Commercial Motor Vehicle Training Nets Results

The North Bay Police Service Traffic Enforcement Officer took part in a joint training operation involving Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs), hosted by the Ontario Provincial Police at the end of April.
Two days of in-class training, was followed up with two days of enforcement in the North Bay area.
During the enforcement portion of the course, 82 CMVs /vehicles were stopped for inspection, which resulted in the following;
- 58 Part 1 Provincial Offence Notices were issued,
- 9 Part 3 Provincial Offence Summonses were issued
- 36 Warnings were issued
- 8 CMVs/vehicles were taken out-of-service
- 7 Plates were removed
- 1 Mandatory Alcohol Screening Test was administered
- 5 Level One CMV inspections were completed
- 1 CMV operator was arrested and charged with Impaired by Drug, and his vehicle was impounded.
As part of our continued commitment to keeping our roads safe, this week, as part of Ontario’s Road Safety Week, the North Bay Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit will be conducting another CMV blitz, again in partnership with the OPP.
