Community invited to watch LEGO robot tournament this weekend
20 FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams and their robots are converging on West Ferris Secondary School this weekend.
Team 1305 – Ice Cubed is hosting the 11th annual North Bay FIRST LEGO League Challenge Qualifying Tournament on Saturday.
The event is bringing in more than 200 students, ages 9-14, from North Bay, Huntsville, Manitoulin Island, Sudbury and all points in between.
They’re competing for the chance to advance to the East Provincial Championship next month.
‘Unearthed’ is the theme this year with autonomous LEGO robots built by the students competing in themed missions.
Teams will also present innovative solutions to real-world problems related to the theme.
The tournament is free for spectators with the opening ceremony at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Robot matches take place from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm & 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm with the awards ceremony at 3:30 pm.
