Crime Prevention Week is underway
City police say preventing crime is a shared responsibility, with safety starting with collaboration.
‘Working Together for a Safer North Bay’ is the theme for Crime Prevention Week, which runs Nov. 2-8.
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) is joining forces with local residents, businesses, and community partners to mark the week.
“We are stronger together,” said Acting Inspector Jody deHaas. “By sharing information, staying vigilant, and looking out for one another, we can make a real difference in preventing crime before it happens.”
All week, City police will be sharing crime prevention information and safety tips on social media and community outreach.
They also continue to promote the CAMSafe program, encouraging residents and business owners to register their security cameras to help NBPS solve and prevent crimes.
Meantime, city residents who are passionate about community safety and giving back are encouraged to apply for the police service’s new Auxiliary Program.
Designed to strengthen community engagement and promote public safety, officials say the program is looking for eight community-minded North Bay residents to volunteer.
They will assist with traffic and crowd control during parades and community events, emergency situations, R.I.D.E. programs, and public safety promotions, while also representing the service at community events.
