Criminal Harassment, Weapon Charges. Victim-Accused not known to one another

The victim and accused are not known to one another.
The North Bay Police Service arrested a 44-year-old man for multiple charges including assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and criminal harassment.
On February 22, 2025, the accused was observed in the area of McGibbon Street, North Bay. The accused approached the victim, who was a motorist driving in the area, and threw a shovel at the victim’s vehicle.
On February 23, 2025, the same victim was returning to his residence when he noticed the accused was in the area. The accused approached the victim’s vehicle and began yelling at the victim before leaving the area. Police attended the area and located the accused in a nearby park, where he was behaving in an erratic manner. After a brief foot pursuit, the accused was arrested and charged.
The victim and accused are not known to one another. The victim did not sustain physical injuries as a result of these interactions.
The accused in this incident is Karl DERRAH, male, age 44, of North Bay, who is charged with:
- One count of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- One count of Criminal Harassment – threatening conduct
- One count of Assault a Peace Officer
On February 24, 2025, while in custody awaiting a bail hearing related to charges from the previously mentioned incidents, the accused assaulted a member of the North Bay Police Service. He was additionally charged for this assault.
The accused in this incident was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
