CSCFN Director of Education Retiring

By Richard Coffin

Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord (CSCFN) will have a new Education Director next fall.

After a 30-year career in French-language Catholic education, Serge Levac is retiring on September 26.

Originally from the West Nipissing area, he began his teaching career in 1995 in Mississauga then returned to the north.

Levac was a teacher at École secondaire catholique Algonquin in North Bay and held various teaching and principal positions around West Nipissing, before becoming the board’s Superintendent of Education in 2013.

In 2021, he became Director of Education.

“I would like to express my most sincere thanks to Mr. Serge Levac for his invaluable contribution to actualizing Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord’s mission and vision,” says Ronald Demers, Chair of CSCFN. “His approach to governance, transparency and collaboration have surely benefited and enriched our school community. His passion for French-language Catholic education has always been very evident. We will miss him.”

The board says it will start the hiring process in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition by this September.
