Dance for Someone You Love

$23,000 raised for Cancer Care
Dance for Someone You Love raises more than $23,000 supporting the Chemotherapy Unit at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC), more than double organizer Sheri Wabie’s fundraising goal.
Wabie highlighted the evening's purpose, sharing that cancer touches every family in one way or another. “This dance was about coming together for our loved ones—our neighbors, friends, parents, and children—who are facing cancer. My family has been touched by cancer many times and we are currently supporting my dad in his battle. We felt loved and supported when our entire community came forward with such heart and generosity.”
With more than 200 guests, local band ‘The Unknowns’ kept the dance floor at the Mike Rodden Arena packed throughout the night. Funds were raised through ticket sales, donations and a silent auction, featuring over 45 items donated by local businesses and supporters.
The proceeds from the dance are helping fund essential equipment for NBRHC’s Chemotherapy Unit, ensuring that patients continue to receive high-quality care close to home.
Tammy Morison, President & CEO of the NBRHC Foundation, praised the event and its leadership, “This was an extraordinary evening and we’re deeply grateful to Sheri and her team for the incredible work they put into making it such a success. The funds raised will have a meaningful impact on patient care and we extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.”
“Purchasing medical equipment is a shared responsibility between the government, the hospital, and our community. Events like Dance for Someone You Love are powerful examples of how individuals, families, businesses, and groups come together to invest in exceptional healthcare close to home,” Morison added.
