The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) is honoured to accept the donation of two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to its Emergency Response Team (ERT) from the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund, supporting both member and public safety while honouring the memory of fallen police officers.

The AEDs donated to NBPS are dedicated in memory of two fallen members: Constable Leonard Slater and Detective Fred Lefebvre. These defibrillators will serve as a lasting tribute to their service while strengthening the Service’s emergency response capability.

“We are deeply honoured to be joined by members of the Lefebvre family to accept this donation,” said Chief Daryl Longworth. “The Fund’s commitment to providing life-saving equipment in memory of fallen first responders is deeply meaningful. We remember Constable Slater and Detective Lefebvre, whose legacy will continue through the protection of others. We are grateful to the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund for this generous donation and for its continued dedication to first responder and community safety.”

Two AEDs were also donated to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Emergency Response Team in memory of Constable Kenneth Roy and Constable Patrick Armstrong.

“On behalf of the OPP, we are deeply grateful for this generous donation from the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund,” said Cst. Kyler Brouwer, OPP North Bay. “These lifesaving defibrillators will support our ongoing commitment to community safety and honour the legacy of fallen officers who dedicated their lives to protecting others.”

Founded in 2009 in memory of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Dave Mounsey, who was killed in the line of duty in 2006, the Fund is dedicated to enhancing public and first responder safety through the donation of life-saving AEDs. To date, the Fund has donated more than 235 defibrillators to police, fire, paramedic, and military services across Ontario and Canada, with several credited to saving lives.
