Denis Gallagher, beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
For 57 wonderful years, Denis was the devoted husband of Jacqueline Gallagher, sharing a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. A proud and loving father, Denis will be deeply missed by his sons John (Anne) and Paul (Nora). As a grandpa, Denis found immense joy in his grandchildren—Eric, Nicolas, Renée, Camryn, and Greg—each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Denis is survived by his dear brother Frank and sister Mary Lou. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Loretta Gallagher, as well as his siblings Michael (Donna), Tommy, Diane (Tom), and Laurine (Rolly). Fondly remembered by his in-laws Rene and Shirley, and Don and Pauline, Denis’s family was his anchor, providing him with unwavering strength, support, and love throughout his life.
A man of many passions, Denis had an enduring love for hockey, cheering faithfully for the Montreal Canadiens. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, often sparking lively conversations with friends and family. Denis also had a deep curiosity for world affairs and engaged in thoughtful discussions about current events, always eager to learn and share his perspective.
Beyond his intellectual pursuits, Denis was a man who embraced life’s simpler pleasures. Whether enjoying a cold beer with those he loved or basking in the warmth of family gatherings, Denis’s humor, kindness, and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at North Bay General Hospital and Nipissing Serenity Hospice, whose exceptional care provided comfort and dignity during Denis’s final days.
A visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Saturday November 23 from 3 until 5 pm. A prayer service will follow at 5pm.
