DNSSAB approves its 2026 budget
The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) has approved its $105 million budget for next year.
It includes a 4% increase to the tax levy, or just under $960,000.
Officials say essential services such as paramedic response and programs that keep people safe and housed continue to drive budget pressures across the district and the province.
“Municipalities are facing significant financial pressures, and the Board recognizes the impact this has across the District,” says Mark King, DNSSAB Chair. “The Board is working to maintain essential services in a way that is responsible and respectful to local taxpayers.
DNSSAB says the Finance and Administration Committee decided not to add a position to enhance Human Resources capacity and provide dedicated support for employee mental health and well-being.
That brought the levy down by just under $100,000.
$435,000 from reserves was also used to reach the 4% levy increase.
