DNSSAB Celebrates Ontario’s Support of Community Paramedicine Initiative

Permanent Community Paramedicine Program Will Support Seniors, Families, and First Nations

The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) expresses its sincere appreciation and strong support for the Ontario government’s Province-wide announcement to make the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care (CPLTC) program permanent.

Backed by $89 million in ongoing Province-wide funding, this commitment ensures the continued delivery of trusted, at-home health care and provides lasting support for seniors and vulnerable residents across Ontario, including right here in Nipissing District. Key Benefits and Local Impact

The CPLTC program strengthens care in the District while reducing pressure on hospitals and emergency services. Through permanent funding, it will continue to deliver meaningful benefits for individuals and families, including:

• Home-based care: delivering professional health services directly to residents’ homes

• Personalized support: collaborating with local health care partners to create care plans tailored to individual needs

• Community outreach: facilitating wellness clinics and outreach programs throughout the District

• Support for rural areas: ensuring essential health care reaches every corner of the District

• Promoting independence: empowering patients to achieve their health goals

• Bridging gaps: connecting patients more directly with the health services they need

By addressing health concerns early, the program helps prevent medical issues from escalating, reducing the need for emergency interventions and hospital visits. In 2024 alone, DNSSAB community paramedics conducted 2,406 home visits, served 707 unique patients, and facilitated 160 community paramedicine clinics.

These results provide clear evidence of the CPLTC program’s success across Nipissing District. DNSSAB’s Commitment DNSSAB has been a leader in integrating community paramedicine with local health, housing, and social services, and looks forward to continued collaboration with the Ministry of Long-Term Care, municipalities, and Indigenous health authorities to ensure the program’s long-term success and sustainability.

“We are thankful to the Ontario government for making the Community Paramedicine program a permanent fixture in the health care system of Nipissing District,” said DNSSAB Board Chair, Mark King. “This support means that our community paramedics can continue making a real difference in people’s lives, helping residents stay healthy in their own homes while easing the strain on our hospitals and reaching out to those who are often overlooked. The permanence of this program means our seniors, families, and First Nations communities can count on compassionate, reliable care for years to come. On behalf of the Board, I thank the Province for their partnership and vision. Together, we’re building stronger, healthier communities.”
