By Richard Coffin

A 28-year-old from Oakville and a Brampton-based company are facing charges after the North Bay OPP stopped a commercial motor vehicle last Thursday night.

Ontario Provincial police say they received several reports from motorists about a southbound tractor trailer emitting smoke along with an electrical burning smell, with one caller saying they saw sparks.

Police say officers located a detached trailer wheel on the shoulder of Highway 11, near Highway 654, with broken lug bolts and metal fragments found inside.

The vehicle was found a short-time later at the Wasi weigh scales, with two wheels completed detached from the trailer’s axle.

Police report the transport was placed out of service for 24 hours and no injuries were reported.
