Driver charged after vehicle seen doing 234km/h on HWY 11

A 25-year-old from Greater Sudbury has been charged with stunt driving after the OPP says a vehicle was recorded travelling over 230 km/h on HWY 11 in Trout Creek.
The OPP says yesterday (Monday) morning shortly before 10, an officer using LIDAR saw a southbound vehicle travelling at 234 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The driver received an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension and a future North Bay court date and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
The North Bay OPP says speeding continues to be a leading contributing factor in fatal and serious-injury collisions on Ontario roads, adding at extreme speeds, a driver’s ability to react to changing road conditions, traffic, or unexpected hazards is significantly reduced, while stopping distances and collision severity increase dramatically.
