Drug and weapons-related charges filed after traffic stop
North Bay Police report a traffic stop has led to charges, including drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, for two city residents.
Police say at approximately 9:30 am on Aug. 31, a vehicle was pulled over in the area of Laurier Avenue and Fisher Street.
Police say a search led to suspected fentanyl, a Kusari-like weapon, a bb gun pistol and over $11,000 in Canadian money was seized.
A 43-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were arrested.
The man faces several weapons and firearms-related charges.
“Our patrol officers did an excellent job with this investigation,” says A/Deputy Jeff Warner. “What started as a traffic stop quickly led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl, weapons and cash linked to drug trafficking. Every time we can disrupt the drug supply, we are making a critical impact to community safety.”
Both accused were released on undertakings with a future court date.
