Drug Dealer Arrested after Fleeing during Traffic Stops

A Hamilton man was arrested on June 11th, and faces numerous charges as a result of three separate incidents in North Bay throughout May and June.

On May 27th, North Bay Police Street Crime Unit officers observed the accused operating a vehicle in North Bay, despite being on 2 separate driving prohibition orders. On June 2nd, patrol officers were called to a Lakeshore Drive parking lot around 5 am for a possible impaired driver. While officers were speaking to the accused, he drove off at a high rate of speed. On June 9th just after midnight, an alert North Bay Police Service officer spotted a suspicious vehicle on Fourth Avenue West, and began following the vehicle.

The vehicle began driving at a high rate of speed, attempting to evade police. Another officer attended the area, and a traffic stop was attempted, at which time the two male occupants jumped out and fled the scene on foot. A bag was located at the scene which was found to contain approximately $75,000 worth of illegal drugs. A 2024 Ford Bronco was seized at that time.

The two males were not located at that time, however one of the males was identified as the accused, and was arrested on June 11th, on warrants for all three incidents.

Michael MULHERIN, male, age 41, of Hamilton has been charged with:

  • One count of Flight From Police
  • One count of Dangerous Operation
  • Six counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Five counts of Prohibited Driving
  • One count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000

The following property was seized in relation to the incidents:

  • 134.7 grams of Cocaine,
  • 140.7 grams of Fentanyl
  • 133.3 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
  • 101 Methamphetamine tablets
  • 102 Hydromorphone pills
  • 135 Codeine pills
  • 1 Digital Scale
  • 2 Cell phones
  • Packaging Materials
  • $420 in Canadian Currency
  • 2024 Ford Bronco

The total value of the drugs seized is approximately $75, 000.

The accused has been held in custody for a bail hearing in July.
