Drugs and Cash Seized During Traffic Stop

A 32-year-old female was arrested and charged with several drug and Highway Traffic Act-related offences after a traffic stop on Second Avenue in North Bay on May 10th.

On May 10th, around 3:00 am, an alert patrol officer observed a vehicle parked at a residence with plates on it that were not authorized to the vehicle.  When the accused was observed driving away from the residence, a traffic stop was initiated.  While speaking to the accused, the officer observed drugs in the vehicle and she was subsequently arrested.  The accused was searched and additional drugs were located on her person, and she was transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters.

The accused in this matter is;

Kaitlyne COMMANDA, age 32, of North Bay, who is charged with;

·        Five counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking,

·        One count of Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000,

·        Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation,

·        One count of Drive While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act),

·        One count of Use Plates Not Authorized (Highway Traffic Act),

·        One count of Drive Motor Vehicle – No Currently Validated Permit (Highway Traffic Act),

·        One count of Drive Motor Vehicle – No Insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act).

As a result of police searches, the following was seized:

·        22.9 grams of Cocaine,

·        5.7 grams of Fentanyl,

·        13.4 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine,

·        53 - 5mg Percocet pills,

·        51 Methamphetamine pills,

·        $465 in Canadian currency

·        Digital Scales

The total value of the cash and drugs seized is approximately $6,000

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing
