The North Bay OPP has laid eight stunt driving charges in the last week (Apr. 24-28).

Since last Friday, eight vehicles travelling at excessive speeds on Highways 11 and 17 were stopped in North Bay and the surrounding area.

Police say that includes one vehicle clocked going 172 km/h in an 80 zone.

The North Bay OPP says excessive speed remains one of the leading contributing factors in serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions.

They add it significantly reduces a driver’s ability to react to changing road conditions.
