Eileen Ward

Eileen Ward

Eileen Marion Ward, born July 5, 1947, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026 at Nipissing Manor, with her husband Ronnie and daughter Julie by her side.  She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and unfortunately, it had advanced rapidly.

Eileen was born in Pomeroy, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland to Derek Orr and Annie Matilda (Tilly) McLaughlin. As an adult, she worked at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast, and then at Ulster Travel in Dungannon.  She met Ronnie, they were married in 1971, and welcomed their daughter Julie. In 1988 the family made the brave decision to immigrate to Canada, and settled in Markham Ontario.  She worked for Unilever Canada as a receptionist, where she made many great and lasting friends.

After they retired, they moved to Callander Ontario to be close to their grandsons, who were without a doubt her greatest joy. They also joined the Callander Legion, where they were very active volunteers and made wonderful friends.

Eileen’s family (and extended family) includes her husband Ronnie, daughter Julie and her husband Dan Malette; grandsons Hayden (girlfriend Ella) and his brother Connor; her sister Jackie and husband Harry Scott, their children Gary (deceased) and his brother Derek; Ronnie’s sister Lillian and husband Hilton Haider (deceased), and Lillian’s children Rachelle (deceased) and Michael and his wife Paula.

Eileen will be remembered as a loving, kind, and warm individual who left a positive impression on everyone she met, and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hillside Funeral Home, 362 Airport Road, North Bay on Saturday October 17 with visitation from 4 PM to 6 PM and a short service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Callander Legion Branch 445 would be greatly appreciated. The family than thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
