Elizabeth Marconi
Betty passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, just three months shy of her 99th birthday, with family by her side.
Born in the northern Ontario community of Val Rita and raised in the Cochrane area (Hunta), she met her future husband there, who worked for the CNR. They relocated to Hornepayne in the early 1950s, where they raised their two daughters, worked hard, laughed loud, and made good friends. Unfortunately, Emile passed away in 1983, just short of their 37th wedding anniversary. Betty remained in Hornepayne until 1998, when she moved to North Bay to be closer to family, where she lived until her passing.
Betty’s greatest joy was family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We believe they kept her young at heart and why she would never say “no” to them. That was just not in her vocabulary.
Her passion for baking her pastries (pies and butter tarts) will be forever missed. Christmas won’t be the same without her generous smile, not to mention her Christmas fruit cake to share amongst family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Caron (Roger – deceased) And Linda Lefebvre (Mike).
Grandmother to Darin Theriault, Trevor Theriault, Reshelle Bye (Jon), Lauren Craig (Adam) and Matthew Lefebvre (Christina).
Also survived by seven great-grandchildren, who knew her as “Granny”; Paige, Austin, Wilson, Alice, Jailynn, Scarlett, and Evelynn.
Betty’s warmth, strength, and love for those she chose to hold close will live on.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Hillside, with no formal funeral service.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Carter for his 23 years of caring, Dr. Cathers, and Dr. King. In addition, thank you to the staff of the First Responders, ER Department, C1, A3, and C3.
Donations can be made in her memory to the Gathering Place. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
