Enforcement Efforts Underway

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) conducted a two-night traffic enforcement initiative on Lakeshore Drive, focusing on speeding following the recent reduction of the posted speed limit to 50 km/h.

The goal of the initiative was to reinforce driver awareness of the new speed limit and to address ongoing safety concerns along the corridor. NBPS reminds motorists that the 50 km/h speed limit on Lakeshore Drive is in effect 24 hours a day, except in the Community Safety Zone where the limit is 40 km/h. Drivers can expect continued enforcement at varying times as part of ongoing efforts to reduce speeding and enhance road safety.

“Speeding continues to be one of the leading factors in serious and fatal collisions on Ontario roads,” said A/Inspector John Cook, NBPS. “Reducing speed saves lives. Our officers will continue targeted enforcement along Lakeshore Drive and other areas of concern, at any hour, to improve safety on our roads.”
