Enrolment Below Projections

Preliminary enrolment figures at the Near North District School Board are below projections. 

Information detailed at last week’s board meeting shows 9,852 students were enrolled as of early September.  

That’s down 226 from the projection.  

The board says 3,058 are secondary students while 6,794 are elementary students.  

Most of the decline is in elementary.  

Once again, the figures are preliminary with a board report saying more recent counts have shown an improvement in elementary enrolment.  

Officials say Core Ed funding is based on enrolment at the formal count dates of October 31 and March 31 each school year.
