Excellent results reported with School Bus Safety Initiative

City police say an unannounced school bus safety campaign has wrapped up with full compliance.
The North Bay Police Service conducted the blitz the week after March Break.
“Drivers not stopping for school buses is a leading traffic complaint in North Bay. However, I am happy to report that, during our unannounced school bus safety campaign, I observed excellent compliance with the law among North Bay motorists,” says Cst. Douglas MacIntosh, the North Bay Police Service’s Traffic Enforcement Officer. “We did not observe any motorists violating the law during the campaign.”
Police say seven officers followed the morning runs of the most problematic school bus routes identified by bus operators.
Those include sections of Lakeshore Drive, O’Brien Street, McKeown Avenue, Clarence Street, Front Street, Ski Club Road and Gormanville Road.
Officials say unannounced enforcement efforts will continue to ensure our roads and community remain safe for everyone.”
