Fans help raise over $3,800 for Special Olympics

City police say $3,817 was raised at Thursday night’s Battalion game, in support of Special Olympics athletes.
Every dollar collected at the OHL Big Ticket Game is going towards the 2027 Special Olympics Provincial Winter Games being hosted in North Bay.
“A huge shoutout to the fans who donated, the Battalion for their support, our amazing Special Olympics athletes, and everyone who volunteered for the cause,” states a social media post. “Your support helps create unforgettable experiences for local athletes and our whole community.”
The North Bay Police Service, other law enforcement officials and local Special Olympics athletes passed buckets in the stands, collecting donations, during the second intermission of Thursday night’s game.
“This event is one of those feel-good nights that brings our community together,” says Cst. Merv Shantz, 2027 Provincial Winter Games Manager with the North Bay Police Service. “It’s about teamwork, inclusion, and celebrating our local athletes. We’re incredibly proud to host the 2027 Provincial Winter Games and thankful for the community’s ongoing support.”
Participating agencies included:
– North Bay Police

North Bay is back on the ice at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens Sunday afternoon at 3 pm, after the Santa Claus Parade, hosting Saginaw.
