Fatal crash Friday morning west of Verner

The Nipissing West OPP reports one person is dead after a collision west of Verner. Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle crash on Highway 17 at about 7 am. 

Police say one person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and another person was taken to the local hospital by paramedics. 

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team. 

Police say Highway 17 will be closed in both directions during the investigation and motorists are advised to obtain information and detours, by calling 511 or by visiting the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) website at: https://511on.ca/
