Federal funding for area infrastructure
Municipalities and Local Roads Boards across Nipissing are receiving nearly $4.9 million in federal infrastructure funding.
Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Pauline Rochefort announced the money through the community stream of the Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF).
She says the investment will support infrastructure priorities, including public transit, water systems, and local roads and bridges.
“Many communities in Nipissing-Timiskaming are working with aging infrastructure and limited resources,” says Rochefort. “This funding gives municipalities and Local Roads Boards an opportunity to tackle important projects, improve services, and plan with more confidence. Investments in roads, water systems, and other local infrastructure may not always grab headlines, but they make a real difference in the daily lives of residents and help communities prepare for future growth.”
North Bay receives most of the funding, just over $3.4 million.
“This funding will help us move forward with an important piece of infrastructure in the Cedar Heights area,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “Our thanks to MP Rochefort for helping to secure this support. It will address an immediate need in the area while helping us prepare for future growth.”
In Nipissing, a total of $4,828,547 from the BCSF was allocated to municipalities:

– East Ferris – $323,964
– Mattawa – $123,205
– Mattawan – $10,021
– Nipissing Township $115,869
– North Bay – $3,449,374
– Papineau-Cameron – $64,321
– Powassan – $219,163
There’s also funding for unincorporated communities. In Nipissing, a total of $63,852 from the BCSF was allocated to Local Roads Boards:
