FedNor helping fund new outdoor winter market
It’s a holiday wish come true for outdoor winter market enthusiasts.
Over $120,000 in FedNor funding is helping build on ‘shop local’ trends and the success of outdoor winter markets by setting one up in the city’s downtown.
It’ll take place each Saturday (4 pm to 8 pm) in November in the Jack Burrows Plaza, in front of the North Bay Museum.
“They can expect cultural programming, Franco-programming and live music,” says Tanya Bédard, Executive Director, Tourism North Bay. “The Artisan’s Way will be there with up to 80 different vendors to be able to help you shop local this holiday season.”
There will also be holiday-themed light shows, mini train rides on The Amazing Train, holiday film screenings and more.
Bédard says the market will lead up to the traditional Downtown Christmas Walk in November.
MP Anthony Rota says there are benefits to hosting the outdoor market.
“Our artisans, people in the area, that they can come and participate but also sell their goods,” he says. “By doing this we’re bringing people in from outside the area as well and that’s important to grow the economy.”
The funding is for markets to be held both this November and again next year.
