Near North Crime Stoppers (NNCS) is guaranteeing its maximum $2,000 reward for any information submitted that leads to an arrest for crimes involving fentanyl, or the use of a firearm in the commission of a drug-related offence. This initiative, which will continue through 2025, underscores the organization’s commitment to tackling crime and building safer communities through anonymous reporting, proactive initiatives and strong partnerships.

“Fentanyl and firearm incidents are increasing in our region. We’re thankful to have organizations like Crime Stoppers!” emphatically states Brad Reaume, Lead Detective with the North Bay Police Service Criminal Investigations and Street Crime Unit. He recognizes Crime Stoppers as an essential program in providing anonymous information to investigators of law enforcement agencies. This incentive and actions by concerned citizens will absolutely save lives.

Crime Stoppers encourages Canadians and people around the world to report illegal activities anonymously to their local Crime Stoppers program. This year’s theme is "Empowering through Education, Preventing through Action.”

“Last year was another milestone year for us,” says Brandon Fenton, board chair for NNCS. “We received more than 1,000 tips from people across the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts. Those tips led to 36 arrests, cleared 19 cases, and recovered $113,676 in cash, drugs and property. Eighty-two per cent of tips were submitted anonymously online, which really highlights the growing trust in our digital platform. We are excited to continue strengthening our partnership with law enforcement to help combat the criminal activities that impact our communities the most.”

NNCS is a non-profit organization overseeing Crime Stoppers programs in the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts. Since 1988, its tips have led to 1,827 arrests and the recovery of over $62 million in illegal drugs and stolen property. With the introduction of a new guaranteed incentive for tipsters, the program expects another highly successful year and will also host Ontario Crime Stoppers programs and stakeholders from across the country in North Bay for the provincial AGM and Training Conference in June.

To provide anonymous information related to any crime, visit nearnorthcrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Individuals looking to support NNCS through donation or partnership are invited to contact the administrative office at 705-497-5555, Ext. 7507
