Fire department highlights Health Canada smoke alarm recall

By Richard Coffin

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services is advising of a Health Canada recall of two smoke alarms that were previously sold on Ali-Express.

The federal agency says they don’t meet the residential detectors regulations in Canada and it’s not known if the alarm will operate in the presence of smoke or fire.

The recalled products are the PGST Independent Smoke Detector Sensor Fire Alarm for Home Office Security, as well as the GauTone Independent Smoke Alarm.

Health Canada says replace the smoke alarms with ones that have a Canadian certification mark.
