Firearms-Related Call Ends Safely

Firearms-Related Call Ends Safely

At approximately 12:48 p.m. on September 14, 2025, the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) responded to a report of possible gunshots and sounds of distress in a multi-unit complex in the area of Rose Avenue and Algonquin Avenue.

Patrol officers were first to arrive on scene, followed by Criminal Investigations (CIS), and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), who also responded to the area. EMS attended to provide medical support.

As a precaution for public safety, residents were evacuated from the building while officers cleared all units. After a thorough search of the complex, no evidence of firearms offences was located. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. No arrests were made in connection with this call.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., the ERT team cleared the call and residents were able to safely return to their homes.

“We take each and every call of this nature seriously and respond accordingly,” said Acting Deputy Chief Warner. “Our officers rely on their training and specialized tools to effectively resolve situations like this safely. This occurrence had a favourable outcome, and we commend all members involved for their professionalism.”

Time and care are required in calls of this nature to ensure the safety of both residents and officers while preventing potential risks to the community.

NBPS reminds the public that if you encounter an active police investigation, please avoid the area and allow emergency responders to do their work safely. Capturing and posting live photos or videos during an active situation can compromise community safety and the safety of our members.

Thank you to the community for their patience and support during this response.
