Flood warning ended for Lake Nipissing shoreline, La Vase River and Parks Creek

By Richard Coffin

The Lake Nipissing shoreline, La Vase River downstream of Lakeshore Drive and Parks Creek are no longer under a flood warning.

That from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority.

“Conditions across the watershed continue to improve following the spring freshet, with water levels and flows continuing to recede,” says Githan Kattera, NBMCA Duty Officer. “Lake Nipissing is below the non-damage level and is continuing its seasonal decline. Tributaries including the La Vase River and Parks Creek have returned to typical seasonal conditions, and no flood concerns are present across the watershed at this time.”

Officials say a rainfall event with approximately 10 to 15 mm is forecast for Friday, June 5.

They say while minor rises in water levels and streamflow are possible, no significant increases are expected, and flooding is not anticipated.

The conservation authority also says the Ottawa River at Mattawa has returned to seasonally normal conditions.
