Richard will be lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Born in Bonfield, Ontario, 9th of 11 children in a farming family, Richard grew up with an enduring work ethic. He took immense pride in his skills as a mechanic throughout his 45 year career maintaining heavy equipment. Diligent and hard-working, whatever the job, he was never finished until both the job and the clean-up were all done.
Richard was an avid moose and deer hunter for most of his life and made time to get into the bush each Fall. He was also a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Family, though, was Richard’s true passion. His devotion to, and affection for his siblings was unwavering, and becoming a husband and a Dad came naturally to him. He was always a reliable man; whether it was family or friend who needed him, Richard always showed up. He became an excellent cook in his retirement years and family and friends looked forward to Richard’s Sea Pie and beans!
The family will receive friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd. on Monday, June 1st, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service and a light lunch will follow on site.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
