Former Voo Doo up for Major NCAA Division 1 Award
Owen Say, who put together an amazing 2019-20 season with the Voodoos, has been named as one of the 32 finalists for the Mike Richter Award as NCAA Division 1 top goaltender.
The 22-year-old London, Ontario product is a sophomore with the Mercyhurst University Lakers.
One of his best performances of the season came against the formidable Notre Dame, where he put up 50 saves on 54 shots faced. He earned AHA goalie of the week once this season for a weekend series where he saved 74 shots over two games to help Mercyhurst go undefeated early in January of 2024.
Through 25 games this season, Say has a 3.26 goals against average along with a .912 save percentage.
Back in his memorable season in the NOJHL with the Voodoos, Say recorded a franchise-high 31-win season in 2019-20 along with a 1.90 goals against average and a .941 save percentage with the Voodoos leading them to first place in the NOJHL in the COVID-19 shortened season.
