Fortin, Berthe “Marie” (nee Bangs)

With heartfelt sadness, we had to say goodbye to our beloved mom, grandmother, and sister on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the Algonquin Nursing Home, Mattawa.

She was born to James & Marie-Claire Bangs in Hearst, Ontario on September 1st, 1946. She was the loving mother of Nicole Belanger and her husband Chad). Berthe will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Zachary Bangs (Melanie), Brixton Bangs, and great-granddaughter Ivy Bangs. Dear sister of Maurice Bangs, Angele Bell, Isabelle Bangs and Doris Lavigne. Predeceased by her son Jacques, her husband Caius, and siblings Denise Bowman, Irene Laplante, Ron Bangs, and Arthur Bangs.

Berthe enjoyed traveling, she was an avid seamstress and she loved jigsaw puzzling. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetery at a later date.

A donation to the Alzheimer’s society would be gratefully acknowledged as an expression of sympathy.
