Four federal candidates in Nipissing-Timiskaming

By Richard Coffin

The federal Conservatives nominated their new candidate in Nipissing-Timiskaming on the weekend, a day before the April 28 election was called.

Long-time senior party staffer Garry Keller won the nomination over former candidates Jordy Carr and Steven Trahan.

The new nomination meeting was held after Cassidy Villeneuve resigned earlier this month.

The Liberal candidate is East Ferris Mayor Pauline Rochefort, retired ONTC worker Val Kennedy is running for the NDP and John Janssen is the People’s Party candidate.

There aren’t any official candidates listed on the Elections Canada website for the riding yet.   The nomination deadline is 2 pm on April 7.

Advance voting will be held April 18-21.

Voter information cards will be mailed to Canadians, which will detail where you can vote.

Elections Canada says you’ll also be able to search that information on its website after April 1.
