Free day use offered Friday at Ontario Parks
You’re being invited to celebrate ‘Healthy Parks Healthy People’.
The province is offering free day use at all operating Ontario Parks on Friday, July 17.
“We are opening our doors to everyone in Ontario,” states a release. “There will be no charge for day use visitation during the celebration. Explore a new park, sample our facilities and services, or enjoy a fun event in a great natural setting.”

Officials say Ontario’s provincial parks are home to some of the most inspiring and beautiful landscapes in the country, adding they want to increase awareness and uptake of the strong benefits linked to spending time in nature.
All visitors to the park will be issued a complimentary day-pass to the park, allowing use of park facilities until 10 pm on July 17.
Officials say there are additional charges for facilities not included in day use such as camping.
Enthusiasts are encouraged to visit Ontario Parks’ reservation service to get a daily vehicle permit in advance.
A few park events are planned around the area on Friday.
At Samuel de Champlain, they include a walk through the Indigenous archaeological and cultural heritage of the Mattawa valley, Yoga in the Park, and more.
Marten River, meantime, has an old growth forest guided hike, insect investigation and bear aware session on Friday.
