Free drop in School readiness program underway at OKP

The new school year is just over five weeks away, and One Kids Place (OKP) is helping children who are starting school get ready.

Their summer drop-in school readiness program takes place between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm every Wednesday through Aug. 27.

Officials say the free, weekly program focuses on building foundational skills. They say children have the opportunity to develop early literacy skills, strengthen hand muscles, and improve fine motor control, through hands-on, play-based activities.

Themes range from letter recognition and playdough exploration to sensory play, scavenger hunts, and outdoor games.

OKP says registration is not required adn families can attend as many sessions as they would like.
