Free Welcome to North Bay event takes place Sunday
About 65 local organizations, service providers, educational institutions, recreational groups, cultural organizations and community partners will all be under one roof this weekend.
Everyone is invited to the free Welcome to North Bay event.
It’s taking place on Sunday, from noon to 3 pm, at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens.
New and long-time residents, families, and others, can learn about local programs and services, discover recreational and volunteer opportunities, and connect with people and organizations from across the community.
“Welcome to North Bay reflects the kind of city we want to be: one that celebrates its diversity, values its residents and creates opportunities for everyone to participate in community life,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “Whether someone is new to North Bay or has lived here for many years, everyone is invited to take part and enjoy the afternoon.”
The North Bay and Area Local Immigration Partnership, the City of North Bay, the North Bay and Area Rural Community Immigration Pilot, and the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce are hosting the fourth annual event.
“Our community is strongest when people feel welcomed, connected and supported,” says Donna Backer, CEO of the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce. “Welcome to North Bay brings residents and community organizations together to share what makes our city so special.”
The event also features free family-friendly activities, including face painting, balloon entertainment, cultural activities for children, community giveaways, meet-and-greets with local mascots, and more.
“We are excited and thankful to have our community come together to help people build connections and showcase North Bay as a place where everyone can belong,” says Grace Garcia, Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator.
Officials say Welcome to North Bay is being held as part of Welcoming Week (Sept. 10-19), an international celebration focused on strengthening connections and creating welcoming, inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
