Freezing Rain Warning and School Buses Cancelled (March 31)

By Richard Coffin

A freezing rain warning continues Monday morning for the North Bay area, including Powassan and Mattawa.

Environment Canada says 10-20 mm is possible with icy and slippery conditions.

The weather agency says the freezing rain is expected to change to ice pellets and then snow Monday morning.

Student transportation officials say all school buses across all weather corridors are cancelled today (Monday, March 31).

Schools remain open.

Meantime, water safety statements from both the Ministry of Natural Resources and Conservation Authority are in effect until Friday.

The ministry says flooding is not anticipated and water levels across the district are within normal ranges for this time of the year.

However, flows in rivers, streams and creeks have increased in some areas given the recent snowmelt, rainfall, and runoff.
