Funding for fitness centre and curling club upgrades in Mattawa
Upgrades are coming to Mattawa’s fitness centre and the Voyageur Curling Club.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced over $415,000 to help the town create a more efficient space and improve the user experience.
At the fitness centre, funding will be used to replace equipment, upgrade the gym floor, install a new furnace, waterproof exterior walls, and upgrade the change rooms to improve accessibility.
“Today’s $415,000 investment in the Mattawa Fitness Centre will contribute to the residents’ overall fitness and health,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “Our government is proud to support Ontario’s Northern municipalities with funding to extend the lifespan of existing recreational and wellness facilities while also improving accessibility features.”
Raymond Bélanger, Mayor of the Town of Mattawa says both the curling club and fitness centre haven’t had significant investments in several years.
“This funding will provide state-of-the-art equipment for the Fitness Centre,” he says. “The investment for the curling club will allow for more efficient ice making and maintenance and will make the facility a fully accessible curling rink for all to enjoy.”
The funding comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.
