Gas prices drop with removal of consumer carbon tax

By Richard Coffin

Drivers in North Bay will notice the consumer carbon tax has been removed from the price of gas.

A litre of regular is down about 19 or 20 cents, depending on where you fill up.

The price on Monday was around $1.55 a litre.

It’s around $1.35 or $1.36 at several fueling pumps Tuesday morning.

Removing the consumer carbon tax was one of the first steps taken by Prime Minister Mark Carney when he assumed office.

This also means the end of the carbon tax rebate, meant to compensate Canadians for the money they spent on the tax.

The final payment will go out later this month.
