Gordon Joseph MacDonald

August 22, 1942 – March 30, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Joseph MacDonald on March 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Gordon passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

Gordon is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Shirley MacDonald. He was a proud and supportive father to Kevin (Penny) MacDonald and Kim (Tim) Watkins.

His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, whom he adored: James MacDonald (Stacey), Darren MacDonald (Renée), Kayla Jenkins, Brittany Jenkins, and Owen Watkins. He was also the cherished Great-Grampa to Judah, Magnus, and Renly.

Gordon is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Bernie) MacDonald and Garfield (Elizabeth) MacDonald. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Gordon had a deep love for the outdoors. He was never happier than when he was out moose hunting, fishing, or camping under the stars. When he wasn't in the woods, he could almost always be found in his garage—grease on his hands and a few busted knuckles—fixing vehicles, small engines, or simply tinkering with his latest project.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Melanie O’Grady and Dr. Jaclyn Wallace, as well as the wonderful nurses and PSWs who provided such exceptional and compassionate care for Gordon over the last several months of his life.

Celebration of Life: Family and friends are invited to gather and share stories of Gordon’s life on Saturday, April 18, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at North Bay Elk's Lodge 25, 325 Elks Ln, North Bay, ON P1B 9T2. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
