Gribbons, Marie Helene Kathleen (Goudreau)

Gribbons, Marie Helene Kathleen (Goudreau)

Marie gained her wings and entered into the gates of heaven with her family by her side on August 7th, 2024 at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice.

Marie is predeceased by her husband Kenneth William, her daughter Bevery Anne, son-in-law Kenny Knight, her parents Henry Goudreau and Helene (LaFleche) Drennan and her Siblings Andy (Elizabeth), Ed (Fern), Cecilia.

Loving mother to Ronald, Linda Knight, Peter, Susan Shrubsole, Nancy, Karen Morin (Randy) and Robert (Lisa).

Mom was the mother of eight, grandmother to 22 and great-grandmother to 21 whom she cherished until her last days.   Survived by her siblings John (Bev), Fran (Ron) and Cec (Anita).

Marie was born in Sturgeon Falls on August 4th, 1936 and grew up in Sudbury ON.

Beside being a full time mom to her children, mom worked for many years as a Nurse at the Civic Hospital in North Bay as a Chaplain/Counselor at the North Bay District Jail and with Community Living in Group homes around North Bay and spent every weekend at St. Joseph’s Hospital giving communion to the sick.

Mom was an active member of her community. She was the president of the CWL and had just received her 75 year pin. Despite having eight children to raise and being a Nurse, she volunteered for many years with Girl Guides of Canada where she touched the lives of many young girls.

Mom would be found at home in her garden full of dirt planting and taking care of the thousands of the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen. We will forever be grateful to her for her love, and her uncanny ability to plant little seeds in everyone around her that are sure to bloom for years to come.   You could never go to her home around dinner time and not be forced to sit and eat. Her home was always open to everyone.

We would like to thank all the staff at Eastholme in Powassan for the love and care they gave mom over the last 4 years.

We would also like to thank Dr. Jinnah and the Nursing staff at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice. You made mom, and all of her family feel welcome and so very loved in the short four days we were there. Mom was at peace when she passed, we are forever grateful.

In lieu of Flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd., on Wednesday August 14th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral will be at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption on Thursday August 15th at 10 am.
