Incidents on the water has OPP emphasizing safety

Boaters and paddlers are being reminded by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to keep safety top of mind.
This after the OPP says there were several marine-related incidents across the province over the weekend.
Police are urging the public to take measures to prevent tragedy.
They say alcohol or drug impairment, operator inexperience and not wearing a lifejacket, are among the factors contributing to marine-related injuries and deaths.
Officials say falling overboard and capsized vessels remain the leading causes of death each year in incidents investigated by the OPP.
Along with everyone on the boat wearing lifejackets, police say check the weather forecast, and make sure your vessel is functioning and equipped.
