International Baccalaureate Program Celebrates 10 years at Chippewa
Chippewa Secondary School has been offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) program for a decade now.
Officials say the school also successfully completed a recent five-year evaluation, reaffirming its commitment to providing a world-class education. The Near North District School Board says Chippewa was commended for its dedicated faculty, robust support systems, and overall growth and success of its IB students.
“Chippewa Secondary School has consistently aligned its mission and vision with the IB educational principles,” states the IB World Schools evaluation team. “[They showed] a strong focus on equity and inclusion across both curricular and extracurricular activities. The school team fosters relationships between students, teachers and the community, encouraging global perspectives and equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an evolving world.”
Chippewa Secondary became an IB World School in 2014, with its first students entering the diploma program in 2015.
“IB is a globally recognized, academically challenging and balanced program for university-bound grade 11 & 12 students,” states the school’s website. “IB originated in 1969 in Europe as an effort by international schools to assure quality educational standards for students, regardless of where they lived.”
