IRVING, Robert “Bob” Francis

Bob passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 26, at the age of 94.

Bob was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen Irving (nee Ward). Together they spent many wonderful years in Virginia and Bonfield Ontario.

He was a proud father to Charlene Gerrard (Paul), Dannette Graham (David), and Sandy Platten (Trish). Bob tragically outlived his two boys Robbie and Ricky (Wendy).

He was a loving grandpa to Jason Doble (Danielle), Jennifer Chant (James), PJ Gerrard, Kaitlyn Gerrard (Lance), Kristen Gerrard (Josh), Tara Reid (Gareth), Sean Graham, Michael Platten (Elisha), and Samantha Platten (Derick) and cherished great grandpa to Tyler and Hunter Doble, Owen and Jack Boyd, Ethan and Benjamin Chant, Madilynn, Chet and Caleb Foster, and Cameron and Cole Reid. 

Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert and Alice Irving, his sister Joan and brother-in-law Ken Fleming. 

Bob served in the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMS Huron and was deployed during the Korean War. After his honourable discharge, Bob leveraged his mechanical skills and ran the Irving Texaco in Virginia with his family. When the family decided to sell the business, Bob worked for Canadian National Railway until his retirement. Bob and Kathleen were active members of the Naval Association in North Bay and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 445.

The family will be receiving visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday August 27, 2025, between the hours of 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A private family burial will follow at a later date. If
