Jean Marc Roy

Jean Marc Roy

On September 14, 2025, heaven received an angel. Jean-Marc Roy — a man of integrity, strength, and resilience — passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, humour, and perseverance.

Jean Marc Roy, born on December 20,1948 in Gracefield Quebec to Armand and Germaine (nee Parker) Roy. Beloved husband to Diane Roy (nee Periard), loving father to Adele (James) and Shelly-Anne (Mike) of North Bay. He will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Logan, Chloe, Victoria and Blake, who brought him immense joy.

His quick wit and infectious humour were cherished by his siblings: Anne (Paul), Marcel (Jane), Pauline (Denis), Raymond (Kim) Armande, Thérèse, Jacqueline and Denise. Jean-Marc was also dearly loved by his sister-in-law Joanne James (Neil), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jean-Marc lived a life marked by quiet strength and unwavering positivity. No matter the challenges he faced — including those that would have discouraged many — he never complained. Instead, he met every day with grace, kindness, and the dignity of a true gentleman. His ability to lift others with his smile, his jokes, and even the occasional prank, made him unforgettable to all who knew him. Throughout his years, he could be found shovelling neighbouring driveways from his wheelchair-just one of the countless examples of his determination and work ethic. Above all, he loved his family deeply and unconditionally.

We would like to thank the staff at Water’s Edge Care community and PHARA for providing a place he could call home. Special thanks to Katie, who helped dad call his loved ones regularly. It made the days beautiful and warmed our hearts. Small acts of kindness make a world of difference.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to all who cared for Jean-Marc in his final days at NBRHC, providing comfort and compassion through difficult times. As we grieve his absence and remember his remarkable spirit, may his life motto bring comfort:

" Il y en aura toujours des pires"

“There will always be some who are worse off"

Jean-Marc Roy was a beacon of resilience and love — a man who taught us all how to live with grace, humour, and heart. He will be forever missed and forever remembered.

Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd on Thursday September 25th from 11am until 1pm and from 6pm until 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to NADY- Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
