JOBIN, Ruby
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Ruby Jobin (nee McLaren), on August 5, 2026, at the age of 79, after a courageous battle with Cancer. She was born to Len and Wilda (Hill) McLaren, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up in Rutherglen, Ontario.
Married to the love of her life, Gilles Jobin, for 33 years, until he passed away in 1998. She leaves behind us children, David Jobin (Valerie), Len Jobin (Shelley), Kathie Jobin, and Tammy Jobin-Brideau (Dan). Beloved grandmother to Amber Dobson (Chris), Alex Lawther (Ryan), Lucas Jobin, Kelsey Robinson (Spencer) and Gillian Brideau, great grandma to Bradley and Reese Dobson, and Harper and Blake Lawther. Loving sister of Eldon McLaren (Lynn), Grant McLaren (Maple), Jim McLaren (Ruth), Arlene Johnston (Leo), Denver McLaren (Darquise), Jackie McLaren (Joe deceased), Monica McLaren (Michael) and Velma Morin Dave deceased). Fondly remembered by her favourite sister-in-law, Marie Girard (Denis). Predeceased by her little sister Katherine and her daughter-in-law Michelle Jobin (nee Pearce).
Mom worked for the Near North District School Board up until she retired in 2009.
Mom proved every day to be the strongest and most courageous woman we have ever met. She fought cancer for 29 years and kicked its butt up until this last year. She defied the odds so many times. She taught us to be strong and independent. To love life and live it to its fullest. She truly was a beautiful soul inside and out. If you had the privilege of knowing her, it was impossible not to love her. It is hard to imagine a single day here without her. She will be missed each and every day. We take solace in knowing that she is finally reunited with our dad, Gilles.
We wish to thank Dr. O'Grady for the wonderful care over the years. Ontario Health at Home and Nipissing Serenity Hospice for the great care they provided over the last few weeks. And of course, to all our family and friends for all the love and support you've shown us during this difficult time.
In keeping with mom's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to cancer research so that we can find a cure or to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice to help support compassionate end-of-life care.
