John Symons

John Symons passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 83.

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine Symons (née Cormier), with whom he shared many wonderful years. John was the proud father of Kelly Ann, Glenn (Amelia), Jennifer (Dean), and Margot; loving grandfather to Geneviève, Patrick, Mathieu, Mel, Eliza, Frida, Pascal, and Étienne; and cherished great-grandfather of Mabel and Melia. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

John loved his family above all else and treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren. Many of their happiest memories are of time spent outdoors together, exploring nature, enjoying the water, and discovering new places, both close to home and during travels with Lorraine. He was kind and patient and interested in everybody and everything. He touched many lives through his career as a math teacher at École secondaire Algonquin and through his volunteer work with the VON driving cancer patients to appointments, and with Meals on Wheels.

John is reunited with his parents, John James and Fernande (née Lalande), and his beloved sisters, Marjorie Dobbie (Stewart) and Joan Daly (Tom).
