Joseph Erdelac
In loving memory of Joseph Erdelac (1945-2025)
Surrounded by his loving family, Joe passed away peacefully in his home on January 19, 2025. Originally from southern Ontario, Joe and his wife Vee have made North Bay their home for the past 50 years. Joe had a lifetime career as a consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Culture & Recreation as well as owning Legends, a successful men’s clothing store in downtown North Bay. Volunteering on many boards & committees, Joe was active in the community.
Joe retired to travel the world with his wife, Vee, and friends. From adventuring across Europe and visiting his Croatian roots to diving the Coral Reef, Joe enjoyed the beauty he saw in the world. However, his favorite destination was his home on Trout Lake with his precious grandsons, Michael, Ben, Jacob and Andrew.
An avid lover of sport and the outdoors, Joe enjoyed baseball, tennis, skiing and golf in his early years. Later in life, he found joy in nature, snowshoeing in the woods, fishing on Trout Lake, or simply hiking our road and chatting with the neighbors. In the summer, you could spot Joe on his pontoon boat, cruising Trout Lake, eagle watching and appreciating life.
Joe is survived by his wife, Vee, daughter Jane (Rob Newman), son David (Tara Burt) and his three siblings. A family celebration of life will take place this summer, at his favorite spot on Trout Lake.
Eagles, free and majestic, held a special place in Joe’s heart: symbolizing the strength and independence he admired and embodied. We hope and pray Joe is soaring with them now. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
