Judy Fay Conto

Judy Fay Conto

In her 80th year of life and after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Judy Fay Conto on Friday October 16, 2026.

Judy was born and raised in the close-knit community of Restoule, where she developed the kindness, resilience, and deep appreciation for family and nature that would define her throughout her life. Judy was the daughter of the late William and Audrey Odd (née Grawbarger). She was one of seven siblings and shared a lifelong bond with each of them. She was predeceased by her sister, Myrna Hoffman (Ted). Judy is lovingly remembered by her sisters Betty Bittorf (Harvey), Barb Proctor (Al), Bonnie Dugas (Rod), her brother Ted Odd, and her youngest sister Tammy McVeety (Mike).

She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. At the heart of Judy’s life was her beloved husband, Mike Conto, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Together they built a life grounded in love, unwavering devotion, and the simple joys of family. Through every season, theirs was a partnership defined by steadfast commitment, laughter, and enduring affection.

In her early years, Judy worked at Johnston Electric, where she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and warm nature. When she and Mike began their family, Judy devoted herself wholeheartedly to creating a loving and nurturing home for their children, always putting her family first. As the years went on, she took on various part-time jobs, always finding ways to contribute while balancing the many demands of family life. Judy was a woman of deep faith and service, dedicating much of her time to St. Rita’s Parish, where she served as President of the Catholic Women’s League. She also generously volunteered with the Cancer Society, offering her compassion and support to those in need. Through her faith, her community involvement, and the countless acts of kindness she shared with others, Judy left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Judy’s greatest pride and deepest joy were her children, Michael (Dee), Jennifer, Stephanie (Scott), and Melanie. She was a loving and devoted mother whose unwavering support, gentle guidance, and unconditional love shaped the lives of her family in countless ways.

Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and acceptance, where her family always knew they were loved. Nothing brought Judy greater happiness than being a grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her three grandchildren, Shae, Gracie, and Caelan, whose lives were forever enriched by her boundless love, warmth, and encouragement. They were the light of her life, and she delighted in celebrating their milestones, sharing in their laughter, and creating memories they will carry with them always. Judy had a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she cared for touched countless lives.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Judy’s love will remain with us always in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and the countless memories that remind us of a life so beautifully lived. The family will be receiving visitors at Whispering Pines Funeral Home (Powassan) on Sunday October 25, 2026, between the hours of 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Josephs Church (Powassan) on Monday October 26, 2026 at 10:00 am. We would like to sincerely thank all the healthcare professionals that supported Judy and our family along this journey. Especially, Dr. Pitre, Dr. Moore and all the wonderful nurses and personal support workers that helped us walk her home at the North Bay  Serenity Hospice. Donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com.
