Kathleen Cooper
The family of Kathleen “Kay” Frances Cooper announces with sorrow her passing on January 26, 2025, in North Bay, ON at the age of 95. Kay was the much-loved wife of the late Vernon "Graham" Cooper. She was predeceased by her siblings Helen Bathgate (Ken), Sr. Mary Francis, James "Percy" Feener (Kathleen), Jean Dingwell, and Claire Feener, as well as her parents James and Helen (nee Rogers) Feener.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her sister Marion Squires (Ron), as well as her daughters Katherine Fiander (Rick), Colleen O'Leary (Ben), Sandra Roberts (Neville), and Susan Cooper.
Her grandchildren, Carrie (Stephen), Colin (Marie), Karen (Mark), Sarah (Shawn), Matthew (Kayla), Anissa (Brody) and Danika will miss her dearly, but her legacy will live on through stories told to her great-grandchildren Emily, Cooper, Benjamin, Aiden, Theodore, Kayden, Owen and Kaisyn.
Mom was well-loved and made a positive impact on people she met through the years. Growing up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and ultimately moving to Corner Brook, Newfoundland, she had a long and successful career as a secretary at Presentation Central High School. Mom touched many people's lives with her loving and kind personality. She moved to Ontario after retirement, but never forgot her Nova Scotian and Newfoundland roots. If you ask anyone who knew Kay, the first word they would use to describe her is “sweet”, and that's exactly how we all want her to be remembered.
As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will occur at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be gratefully acknowledged by her family. Online condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
Kay’s heart always belonged to her loving husband who doted on her, and after 38 years apart, they are finally together again. Mom will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her, but her family celebrates her long life which was filled with so much love and life.
An Open House in North Bay will be arranged at a later date.
